Plan your wedding with ease – we’ve got everything you need to think about, from the first decision to the last thank you card.
Twelve months before the roar call
- Set the date for the wedding
- Draw up a budget for the cost of the wedding
- Decide what the wedding will look like and if you want a special wedding theme
- Decide how many guests you want to invite to the wedding party
- Book a church or venue for the ceremony
- Book a wedding officiant
- Book a venue for your wedding reception.
Nine months before the roar call
- Decide on the wedding dress. It’s important to be out in time if it needs to be sewn in and adjusted
- Appoint the wedding party, hosts and toastmaster
- Book hotel rooms for your wedding night yourself and possibly reserve for guests
- Book a photographer for your wedding
- Put together the guest list
- Assign roles to guests
- Book a soloist for your church
- Book entertainment/musicians for your party
- Book a hairdresser
- Book a make-up artist
- Book transportation/means of transport to be used during the day
- Send out “save the date”
Six months before the roar call
- Start planning the arrangements for the party
- Decide on the theme of the wedding
- Choose the menu for the wedding dinner and drinks to go with it
- Book and order wedding cake
- Decide on clothes for bridesmaids and groomsmen
- Order bridal bouquet and other flower arrangements
- Order printed materials, such as invitations and thank you cards
- Start planning your honeymoon and honeymoon
Four months before the roar call
- Plan your wedding program and meet the officiant. Possibly have a wedding talk with the priest
- Think and talk about your wedding vows you will make to each other during the ceremony
- Choose and book music for weddings
- Decide on the wedding menu and arrange food and drinks for the wedding party
- Plan and book other accessories for the party, such as tables & chairs, crockery, decorations and printed matter
- Book all transportation during the wedding day
Three months before the roar call
- Plan your wedding day in detail
- Select wedding rings and engraving
- Submit an obstacle assessment to the tax authorities
- Purchase the bride’s other accessories, such as shoes, gloves, underwear and wedding jewelry
- Book an appointment for wedding hair, makeup and nails
- Book your honeymoon

Two months before the roar call
- Send out invitation cards for the wedding – set the osa date at least one month before.
- Order a wedding cake
Write a shopping list for what you will be responsible for. - Write a gift list of wedding gifts and inform guests how to get it
- Write any prenuptial agreement
One month before the roar call
- Try on the wedding dress in case any adjustments are needed
- Do table placement
- Prepare to change your ID documents if one of you is changing your surname
Two weeks before the wedding
- Get the wedding rings
- Contact the wedding photographer for details about the shoot
- Visit the venue and plan your party in detail
- Finalize details with any catering company
- Inform all concerned about the schedule of the wedding day
- Update the seating plan when you know who is coming
One week before the wedding
- Rehearse the wedding program with all concerned
- Packing and arranging practical details for the honeymoon

- Hand in a change of clothes and any luggage to the hotel if you have booked
- Decorating with flowers and other decorations in churches and banquet halls
- Relax as much as possible and go to bed early

Practical details & preparations
The schedule for the wedding day
Even a spontaneous and light-hearted wedding may need a schedule of times. We are most curious about when you plan to arrive at the party out here on Skeppsholmen, and approximately how hungry the guests will be on arrival. The end time is also important that we agree on. If the festivities start early in the day, it is wise to end a little earlier and vice versa.
The schedule for the wedding dinner
Wedding dinners usually involve a lot. A schedule for the dinner is essential for this to run smoothly. Printed schedules with large text are our favorite, preferably several copies. Leave room for unclogging and refilling wine between courses. Inform about emergency exits and other important information before the party starts. Ask us if anything feels unclear. If you need our input on the schedule in the days before, we are happy to help.
Table top spacer
In order for us to help you lay out the tables, you need to make simple cards that do not require assembly. We want the cards sorted and put in envelopes – one per table. We need a clear map with all the names written out, and signs for the tables. You can name them 1, 2, 3 or names of different cars, boats, cities, etc.
We are happy to help put out songbooks and other things as well, and here too we want clear instructions.
Decorations
You can order flowers on your own, below we recommend suppliers who are used to working in our premises, and who are able to deliver both flowers and vases (which you rent). If you want to order the flowers yourself, we will help instruct when they can be left and placed and when vases should be picked up. Our wedding packages always include candle cups with battery-powered candles and other atmospheric lighting, candles are unfortunately not allowed anywhere in our historic premises.

Wedding cake
You are welcome to make a wedding cake on your own. We recommend some talented creators below. We charge a service fee to handle the cake, the fee includes a fridge, crockery and skilled chefs who cut it up nicely. The fee varies in our different premises.

Allergies and special diets
It is important that you ask your guests about this, and that we receive a list at least two weeks before the wedding day. Please name the guests with allergies and special diets so that we can find them on the seating chart even before the dinner is served.

If you are booking a wedding photographer who will also be present at the dinner – order food for them and let us know if, for example, the wedding cake should be immortalized before it is cut. Of course, we have photographers we highly recommend;

Transportation
We have many parking lots on Skeppsholmen, most of them located behind Moderna Museet. If you want to arrive by bus, it goes well to all our banquet halls. If you want to refer to an address for your guests all the addresses here.

Boat
We often receive guests who come by boat. We are more than happy to recommend some of Stockholm’s finest ships for your wedding, please ask us. Read more about Steamboats for transportation here.
Usually you moor, either at the municipal pier where the SL boats stop at Östra Brobänken, or behind Af Chapman.
Wedding gifts
All wedding gifts must be brought before leaving the party, we can help carry them out in a car if there is one parked nearby. Please prepare with large bags and tape so that no cards fall away. The same goes for decorations and anything else you want to save, bring this the same evening, ask friends and family for help.
Technology & Music
We usually rent out customized technical packages, and adapt to both premises and needs. If you want contact with musicians, DJs or other entertainment, you are welcome to make a request.
When hiring musicians, it’s always nice to order food and drinks for them, and plan for them to have a space to themselves, talk to us and we’ll sort it out smoothly.
